Creamy Avocado Pesto Pasta - Pasta Week # 3

Recipe tried out on Sept 2011.

I had 6 avocadoes that I know not what to do with it. One afternoon, I saw this recipe and I told myself to go buy some sweet basil on the next grocery trip.

I made this one afternoon, kept the other half of avocado cream for another meal. Creamy and Delicious!
Healthy too!

Classic Macaroni and Cheese - Pasta week # 2

Recipe created in Aug 2011

My first encounter with Mac and Cheese was at Kenny Rogers Roasters in 1994 at KotaRaya's branch. It was my favourite side dish. Sometimes I will just order Mac and Cheese and nothing else. Each time I go to KL by bus, I will surely dine there at least once just for this. It was only walking distance from Puduraya Bus Station.

Vanilla Bean Macaron with Passionfruit Curd, My 1st Bake-gether - Random Sunday

Remember when I did my kitchen post, I dreamt of a large kitchen with an island so that I can have lots of friends over to bake. But in the end I got so sad with my final kitchen. To those who didn't believe it's small ... ask Lena. Don't believe the pictures, they lie. LOL. Lena has seen the truth.

Pecan Sticky Buns - Cinnful rolls # 3

Sticky buns is glazed on the bottom instead on the top. Then turned over after baking to let the caramel soak into the buns. As the name implies, it is sticky. And what makes it sticky? Sugar.

If it's not sticky, then it's not sticky buns. Just like eating assam laksa that is not hot and sour, where's the kick? Or drinking beer that taste like water, yucks!

Clone of a Cinnabon - Cinnful rolls # 2

Recipe tried on 22 Oct 2011.

Lyanne was so excited about these rolls that she broke her plate… She had a teeny weeny taste of it just before I took pictures of it and she came running after them. LOL. Poor thing, luckily the plate didn’t hurt her. I guess I have to get more Corelle plates, and this time, butter plates, perfect for tea time snacks.Lydia who was sick that day also came to the patio to have her rolls……invited by the smell of it. She didn’t have any appetite. Poor girl, at least she ate half a roll.

Chelsea Buns - Cinnful Rolls #1

Chelsea Buns... Looks like cinnamon rolls? Almost.
The difference is in the filling. It has mixed fruits especially currants.
And it is glazed with either honey or golden syrup.

Ribs and Bean Paste Stew 黄豆酱炖排骨 - Pork Ribs # 3

My hubby asked for more rice with this.
I could almost drink the gravy like soup and drenched my rice with it, of which something I rarely do except with curry.

Spiced Cola Grilled Pork Rack - Pork Ribs # 2

When I saw pork racks in Tesco's Non Halal Freezer, I went woahhhhh! I must must buy!
Although these are not big racks, but then better then none. It's not easy getting these here as local butchers with their cleavers won't sell you part of the rack (where it's meatiest!)

Tomato Braised Ribs 番茄焖排骨 - Pork Ribs # 1

This recipe is a true keeper. Very delicious.

I tried to follow Peng's version as closely as possible, except for the tomatoes. I split the portions to two, one to cook until it melts and the other to be added in later so that it stays as chunks. I also made it drier than hers. The rest, I followed to the dot. I trust Peng. I love her recipes, and by going to her blog, it gives me inspiration for dinner.

How To Keep Spring Onion for Days or Weeks - Random Sunday

Spring onions / scallions / green onions is one of my MUST HAVES in the fridge, besides butter and eggs. I must replenish it whenever it runs out. It's one of the crucial dinner ingredients. No spring onions, no fried rice. Somehow, I don't like my fried rice without it. And with spring onions I can cook a lot more of other emergency dishes like ginger onion pork or ginger onion chicken. Or even cook  pork and mussels porridge or my husband's favourite Salmon Congee. I need it all the time.

My girl loves spring onions. :) and it adds colour to my dishes.

I have also come to know that a lot of people do not like to buy and store them, because they wilt and spoil easily, even when chilled. Ok. But that doesn't happen to me. Read on.

Pistachio Macaron with Avocado Cream Cheese Filling - Avocado Week #3

I lurrrrrrrrrrrrve this macaron. The pistachio makes it soooooooo fragrant. I don’t know if it’s because I gently roasted it beforehand or pistachios by itself really taste this good in macarons.
